What is x402
x402 uses the HTTP status 402 Payment Required to let a server ask for money before it answers. Waluku prices every endpoint, so each request is a small purchase.
The flow
- You call an endpoint. Without payment the server answers
402and states the exact price and where to pay. - Your wallet signs a USDC payment for that amount. Nothing is sent on-chain by you; you only sign.
- You repeat the same request with the signed payment in the
X-PAYMENTheader and receive200 OKwith the data.
Why it fits an API
There is no account, no API key and no balance to top up. Each request is paid and settled on its own, so you only pay for the calls you make, and the price you see on an endpoint is exactly what one request costs.
